About Lucianne

I am a registered psychologist, a psychotherapist, and a psychoanalytic candidate. In addition to my foundational studies and experience in psychology, I have undertaken formal post graduate study and training in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy with young people and families as well as with adults. I am currently undertaking intensive formal training in psychoanalysis with the Melbourne Institute for Psychoanalysis.

I have worked professionally as a psychologist for nearly twenty years. Initially as a researcher and academic, and then within community and non-profit agencies providing counselling support and intervention with young people and families in need. I then spent many years working as a psychologist and consultant within primary and secondary schools. I have since worked in private practice providing psychoanalytically oriented counselling and psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan as well as families.

I am committed to working with people in a way that allows the time and space for them to connect with and explore their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, as well as their life experiences (both past and present) and relationships. Over time, this exploration allows people the opportunity to develop their understanding of themselves and their emotional suffering. It is through the development of a deeper and more meaningful connection with their internal world, that allows a person to become freer of whatever obstacles may be holding them back from living life more fully.

I believe in the importance of working through these underlying difficulties and the necessity of allowing for the appropriate time and space for this to occur.  For this reason, I do not offer short term interventions or management strategies that focus on a ‘quick fix’ or ‘getting through’ difficult patches. I choose to work intensively, seeing people once a week at a minimum, to provide them the opportunity to do this important, sometimes life changing work.
